the Big Dig: Creative Community Conversations
What would you like the park over the Big Dig to look like? Here's
your chance to express your views and learn more about how cities design
parks and public.
Once Interstate 93 is put underground, the open space it creates will
be available for the city to build a series of public spaces, and many
people right now are trying to figure out what these spaces should look
like. The "Creative Community Conversation" we'll be attending
is a rare opportunity experience the urban design process by giving
your opinions and seeing what other people think about how the corridor
park should be developed.
The Community Conversation will take place at English High School in
Jamaica Plain from 10:00-2:00. The English High School is just off Washington
Street in Jamaica Plain between McBride and Williams Streets. Williams
Street is at the intersection of Washington Street across from Doyle’s
Restaurant and Bar. You can get there by taking the Orange line to the
Forest Hills stop and then walking down Washington St. If anyone wants
to go with me, we can meet at the Cathedral at 9:30.
Here are a few short editorials from the Boston Globe that will show
you how people are arguing about open space over the Big Dig:
"Time
To Think Big"
"Getting
to 'aha' on Artery parks"
"Balance
over the Artery"
"An
open mind on open space" |
