Community Supported Agriculture: Your own supply of locally grown summer vegetables

Last fall EP and The Food Project offered people in two communities in Winchester and Somerville the chance to be members of a winter Community Supported Agriculture program. (A winter CSA's vegetables are mostly root crops and present different challenges from summer vegetables. Long lasting, they also take a long time to cook, but great recipes were provided with the food.)

For the 2004 growing season, EP has arranged with The Food Project to help people take part if they don't want to start out with a full share of the summer's harvest. EP will create match-ups among people who want half or quarter shares. Participants can either get their vegetables in Arlington (this membership includes no "u pick" items like strawberries, flowers or cherry tomatoes. Or they can take turns going to the farm in Lincoln where their food is both "u pick" and harvested, waiting to be bagged. This latter option includes the opportunity to picnic or do picking with children or friends. Contact us to join. If faith groups decide they want to share the food as part of their summer programs, EP will make available meditations drawing connections among food, faith, and growing our food sustainably.
